Steve Carden, Rob Jager, Graham Darlow honoured at NZ H&S Awards

Landcorp CEO Steve Carden, former Fletcher Construction CEO Graham Darlow and Shell Chair Rob Jager have all been honoured at the 2017 NZ Workplace H&S Awards.

Steven won the Executive of the Year Award, sponsored by the Forum.

The judges said Steve had influenced health and safety not just in Landcorp, but across the farming sector, including being the driving force behind the formation of the Agricultural Leaders’ Health and Safety Action Group.

Rob received the Lifetime Achievement Award in acknowledgement of the important role he has played innearly every significant health and safety initiative over the last decade. This included Be Safe Taranaki, the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum, the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter, the Independent Taskforce which recommended a separate regulatory agency and new legislation, and urging the creation of an independent review into forestry.

Graham accepted the Supreme Award for 2017 on behalf of the Canterbury Rebuild Health and Safety Charter. The judges said the Charter’s positive influence on health and safety is being felt across the rebuild, and also as far away as the Auckland building boom.

Congratulations to other Forum winners at the awards, including:

  • ANZCO Foods
  • Vector
  • Methanex NZ
  • KiwiRail
