Support for CEOs, senior leaders and Directors
In late November 2024 former Port of Auckland CEO Tony Gibson was convicted in the District Court on two charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 – the first time a CEO of a major New Zealand company has been found guilty under the Act.
The charges were brought by Maritime NZ following the death of Pala’amo Kalati at the Port in 2020.
POAL was also charged as a PCBU under the same legislation and pleaded guilty and were fined and paid reparations.
