CEO invite: A day in the life of leading some of New Zealand's most hazardous operations
**Please note the event on Thursday 7 May is almost full**
Methanex, Taranaki
In 2025 the Forum is excited to bring you a series of unique CEO field trips to spend a day in the life of leading some of New Zealand's most high-hazard operations.
Kicking this off in May is an opportunity to see inside New Zealand's only methanol producer, Methanex New Zealand in Taranaki.
Classified as a Major Hazard Facility under health and safety regulations due to the amount of hazardous substances it stores, it has four separate safety cases. This is a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at one of their sites in Taranaki.
Join Methanex NZ Managing Director Stuart McCall, Plant Manager Alistair Simmers and his team to understand the leadership challenges involved in leading this complex operation. As well as a site tour, you'll learn about the challenges and successes they've faced and how they manage significant process safety risks alongside the day-to-day occupational health and safety risks.
Including a case study with Clarus
Following lunch, we'll bring in Clarus CEO Paul Goodeve and his team to take you through a case study workshop on how their organisation successfully managed a significant risk to public safety and security of gas supply with the Maui pipeline project. This workshop will involve time for questions and reflection.
As this event is strictly limited to 20 CEOs we are running it on consecutive days in early May to accommodate as many CEOs as possible.
For those flying in the day prior, or based in New Plymouth, the Forum will be hosting an optional complimentary dinner for members on the evening of Thursday 8 May. Please email us directly at info@forum.org.nz if you would like to attend this dinner.
